We had so much fun on our recent trip to Italy and wanted to share with you all the highlights and favorite places. Here is our guide to a six-day trip to the north of Italy:
1. First stop – Lake Garda
We landed at Bergamo airport, rented a car and drove to a small town called Desenzano del Garda (about an hour drive) and stayed at Castello Belvedere Residence, a very beautiful hotel with a spectacular view of the lake.
At the evening we walked to the center of Desenzano del Garda where we found a lot of restaurants in beautiful little streets and had a delicious dinner at Gattolardo restaurant:
The next day we drove to the beautiful little town of Sirmione, located in the southern bank of the Lake where we saw a beautiful medieval castle and walked down the little streets with colorful Italian houses and cute little restaurants.
Our breakfast spot – a buffet breakfast by the lake at Eden hotel (15 euro):
2. Next stop – Verona
Verona, located 45 minutes’ drive from Sirmione, is just as we pictured it to be, so beautiful and elegant. We recommend just walking around and getting lost between those little streets.
Accommodation – Staying at ‘The gentleman of Verona‘ hotel was a perfect choice since it is located right in the heart of the city near all the main attractions (the Arena, the central Piazza Erbe and Romeo and Juliet’s balcony). The hotel is so cozy and beautifully designed:
Dinner – between the small narrow streets we found Ristorante Torcolo – a little Italian restaurant, with outdoor sitting and delicious food:
3. Venice
The next morning we hopped on the car and drove to Venice (an hour and a half drive). We parked the car outside the city and spent the day walking around the streets and canals, exploring this beautiful city.
We got a recommendation from locals to go to Al Pesador Osteria for lunch, and it didn’t disappoint, outdoor restaurants not too crowded with tourists.
We decided to spend the night outside the city in a small town called Mirano (25 minutes’ drive from Venice), we discover ‘Glamping Canonici di San Marco’, a beautiful small ranch that offers accommodation of luxury tents (glamping). a unique experience of staying in nature with all the amenities you need in a tent, including luxurious breakfast! This was such a great experience!
There are a lot of dinner options around Mirano and we decided to checkout Ristorante Il Pendolo, a local Italian osteria. There was no menu and no one spoke English there so they just brought all kinds of dishes to the table, kind of like a tasting menu 😊 everyone was so nice and the food was excellent!
4. Last stop – Milan
After the amazing breakfast at ‘Glamping Canonici di San Marco’, , we drove to Milan (about 2.5 hour drive), there we stayed at this beautiful Airbnb apartment located 5 minutes walk from the duomo di Milan:

Milan is so beautiful and it’s so much fun just to walk around in all the different neighborhoods:
Here are some of the places we’ve been in Milan:
An architect-designed villa museum
And most importantly, a list of our favorite places to eat in Milan:
Breakfast:
Iter – Fusion cocktail bar that also offers food throughout the day. Very cozy place, a great choice if you want to avoid tourists in the Navigli area and eat like a local.
LùBar – A beautifully designed café with a Sicilian flavor in Milan’s Modern Art Gallery :
Aperitivo (pre meal drinks):
Fonderie Milanesi – This restaurant is located in an old beautiful villa with a courtyard terrace. It’s hard to find this trendy spot since it is hidden between old industrial buildings off the main road. Great buffet aperitivo!
TERRAZZA 12 – one of the coolest rooftop lounge bar in milan, perfect for aperitivo while watching the sunset:
Dinner:
Drogheria Milanese – Trendy Italian style tapas restaurant (Apparently, there’s a secret room open by invitation only):
Shimokita –Japaneses tapas restaurant with a cool vibe:
