We are always looking for new and special destinations to visit, so this time we decided to go to a city a little less worn – Stockholm. Stockholm has direct and inexpensive flights from Tel Aviv several times a week, so it’s a perfect choice for a short getaway to Europe. We spent four perfect days in Stockholm. On our first night, we stayed at the J Hotel Stockholm.
The hotel is a 10-minute drive from central Stockholm and 20 minutes by boat. We chose this hotel because we wanted to create a trip with a mix of nature and urbanity at the same time. Stockholm is actually part of a group of islands, the J Hotel is located on one of the islands, called Nacka strand. The hotel is located in a dreamy beachfront with endless nature around it. In the summer you can even jump into the water or use one of the kayaks offered by the hotel to its guests.
At first glance, we have discovered a stunning place, surrounded by trees and water. The hotel is built of three beautiful red brick structures that perfectly harmonize with nature. The lobby and all the hotel’s decor is decorated in American nautical style with white and blue colors. The lobby is very inviting and has a fireplace to warm up on Stockholm’s cold nights.
We got a high floor room with a balcony facing the sea. The rooms are also decorated in a nautical style, in shades of blue, white and wood, in a minimalist way that blends in with the view that enters the room. There is nothing like waking up to the view of the Stockholm archipelago especially when the sun is out.
One of the hotel’s buildings has a more ancient look and breakfast is served there. This is the perfect place to have your morning coffee, near the seaside by candlelight. The hotel offers a very varied and delicious breakfast!
We really enjoyed staying at Hotel J, the experience of taking a boat to the city center is unusual and breaks the usual urban trip a bit. It is fun to return to the quiet pastoral evening in the hotel after a whole day in the big city. We highly recommend it!
